Donna and Jean hard at work

More Mould Making

A group of Western Endeavourites and a few family members fronted up at Wanslea Family Services for more mould making (plaster, that is) on Thursday of last week.

Master plaster mixer Peter, Jean, my mother Marian and grand daughter Sarah and I were the first contingent and were joined by Jane, Donna, my Dad Neil and brother Gordon. Sarah loves helping at Wanslea because there's so many things to play with.

We had a busy if frustrating few hours as the plaster was quite slow to set due to the high humidity. Unfortunately, a few plaster animals went to 'plaster animal heaven' as we tried to take them out of the moulds too soon. I think the saying 'more haste, less speed' was pretty relevant...it's a pity we didn't take notice.

We made approximately 300 moulds so, along with those made by Wanslea staff, should have a good number of moulds for the children to paint on Sunday.

I'd like to thank members for their participation at both sessions and also extend a big thank you to our family members (they belong to both Jane and me) for their help. It shows how the spirit of Rotary can extend beyond our club members.
