Changeover 2018-19 Club members enjoyed a wonderful Changeover Dinner last Sunday at Hillarys Yacht Club. We were fortunate that nearly all members could attend and we accepted with regret apologies from only Harry Nesbitt & Betty, Barrie Heald & Cath and Chris Ford & Julie. We acknowledged a number of special guests, including Immediate Past President Laurie was thanked and farewelled with an hilarious and insightful roast from Master Roaster Geoff Ross- a "Smartypants" quiz! Needless to say, Laurie got all (I think) of the semi-serious questions right, and none of the comical ones! It was then my pleasure to introduce our Team leaders to guide us on our 2018-19 journey "Be the Inspiration": Mr Tony Parker, President Mr Byron Williamson, President Elect PP Mr Barrie Heald, Secretary PP Mr Michael Lee, Treasurer Ms Vicky Rowe, Director Club Service PP Ms Jane O'Leary, Director Fund Raising and Bulletin Editor PP Mr John Boxall, Director Community Service and Rotary Foundation PP Mr Harry Nesbitt, International Imm PP Dr Laurie Glossop, Our Plan for 2018-19: Together, we will: - Share the benefits of Rotary with 5 new members- networking & service.

Young minds matter... Australian Rotary Health would love you to join us at his year’s Mental Illness Forum and networking cocktail party to thank our Rotary Clubs and donors for their support, and allow researchers and clinicians to network and discover more about ARH research grants. Every year 1 in 5 Australians suffer a mental illness, with suicide being the biggest killer of young Australians. Through research, we hope to change these figures. Our key note speaker Associate Professor David Lawrence (Principal research fellow in the Graduate School of Education, UWA) says mental disorders are among the most common and disabling health conditions affecting children and adolescence today. “Young Minds Matter" surveyed over 6,000 families with children aged 4-17 years around Australia. We examine how mental disorders impact children’s development and learning, and what types of help children need, and receive,” Associate Professor David Lawrence said. You can help continue the conversation about mental health by attending the Lift the Lid on Mental Illness: Young Minds Matter forum. Those who attended last year found the event inspiring, and we hope that you will encourage other Rotary members to attend, with you, this year. Those who could not attend last year missed a great event, and we hope that you will attend this year. Here are the details: When: Wednesday 25th July, 2018 Time: 6.00pm for 6.30pm start Where: UWA Club Crawley Tickets: $40 Adults, $20 Students To book your tickets, click on this link: https://www.trybooking.com/VUTX |
