Caps for Corona Virus |
What a pity we are now only 2 people in a gathering. We could have all got together and made hats for Hospital Heroes. A friend of our was contacted by the Rotary Club of Sunbury in Victoria after they were contacted by Royal Melbourne Hospital with a request to provide 1,000 scrub caps for nurses. A Rotarian, Kerry Kirk, a very close friend and former work colleague, of our friend Ded Elliott contacted her as the Rotary Club of Sunbury had received a request from the Royal Melbourne Hospital. The Royal Melbourne Hospital were looking at Personal Protective Equipment so that they can be prepared for Corona Virus. They were looking for volunteers to make hat/headwear for nurses. Nurses do not normally wear hats/headware on the wards and they wish now to do so in order to protect as many staff as possible. The nurses have been informed that the virus can remain on surfaces for up to 4 days. |
The majority of staff on the ward are female, and while they do wear their hair up, it is an area that is left vulnerable. The nurses want to protect their families as much as possible and do not want to run the risk of taking the virus home with them. Judy and are helping to coordinate volunteers in WA. We will be contacting local hospitals to see if their is a need for these here. Busselton Hospital has already requested tham and Deb's sister Jan who lives in the South West is coordinating this. This project fits the criteria for the Dick Smith Humanitarian Grants so we will look at submitting an application. |
