The mate was a mighty sailin' woman,
the Skipper brave and sure,
six passengers set sail that day,
for a three hour tour,
a three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough,
the shiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
Local Hero would be lost.
Local Hero would be lost.

with Gabby, (the mate)
the Skipper too. (Tony)
The millionaire (Eric) and his wife, (Karen)
the movie star, (Dale)
the professor (Laurie) and Mary Ann, (Joy)
here on Local Hero’s deck.

So this is the tale of our castaways,
they were here for an enjoyable time.
They certainly made the best of things,
on a penned in shiny ship.

The first mate and his Skipper too
did their very best,
to make the others comfortable,
the food and wine did the rest.

Just as I left Yokine heading for the yacht club, the predicted thunderstorm hit.  Lightning flashed, thunder roared and rain fell.  Driving along the river, the water looked calm, the only disturbance being the spreading rings from the huge raindrops.  My timing was perfect as Tony arrived just as I was unloading the food from my car in the outsiders car park.  We loaded it all into Tony's car and parked in the insiders car park, close to the boat.

Laurie G was already on board entertaining our guests for the day, Karen and Eric, Dale and Joy.  Tony fired up the engines and gave instructions to all for casting off.  Just as the mooring ropes were removed one of the engines died.  Luckily Laurie had not let off the springer at the stern so we were still connected to the dock via him.  The wind was pushing us out of the mooring and there was a bit of fun getting the bow lines back on, but with the assistance of the fearless crew, mate and skipper we were once again secure.  

After many phone calls and some missed photo opportunities ( Laurie and Tony with heads down and bottoms up in the engine bay) it was determined that the fuel valve to the engine had been turned off.  Despite valiant attempts, there was no way the fuel was going to run through to the engine so the decision was made to dine at the dock.

As well as the Laurie and Tony floor show, we were entertained by the yacht races, good conversation and yummy food.  Another great Rotary moment.
